One of the prettiest sites on the network, part of the Bolton Abbey estate, in an open glade surrounded by woodland and the glorious Yorkshire Dales. Within the boundaries of the estate are some 75 miles of footpaths through moors, woods and farmland. Painted by Turner and Landseer, praised by Wordsworth and grazed by sheep, the ruins of the 12th century Bolton Priory stand on a placid curve of the River Wharfe. Nearby Skipton (8½m), an historic town with cobbled streets and canal, has a regular street market, a well preserved medieval fortress and is also the starting point of one of England’s most beautiful train journeys, the Settle to Carlisle line.

Relax on this tranquil site set in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and very much in Heartbeat country. Some pitching areas are pleasantly open and spacious; a number sheltered by trees. There are spectacular moorland views from the western side of the site. This site is ideal for dog owners and the North Yorkshire Moors is a paradise for walkers. Choose from 1300 miles of footpaths, some of which can be joined from the site. For the less energetic there are scenic drives through forests and across moors. After your explorations, pass a restful day on site enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the countryside in all its splendour.

There is no Toilet Block on site.

Set in Lower Nidderdale, the site offers a gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and the many attractions of the North of England. The site is surrounded by mature trees and hedges and on fine days it is sunny yet well sheltered. It also has a small and friendly club house, where you can enjoy a meal or drink. A near neighbour of Harrogate, Knaresborough is an historic market town with a town crier, ancient walkways, castle ruins (blame Cromwell!), cobbled alleys and secret passages leading to picturesque tea rooms, restaurants and traditional pubs. The central market place is home to the weekly Wednesday market, still famous for its locally prepared lavender water. Summer activities include the annual Bed Race (June) and Knaresborough Festival (August). This area has it all – boating on the river Nidd, relaxing riverside walks, tennis and pitch ‘n’ putt – all in all a family destination likely to prove a winner for Club members throughout the season.

Just a short distance off the A1 and adjacent to the A66, you will pitch on a grassy, gently sloping site with magnificent views southwards over the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It’s a waste to use this gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park merely as a stopover – stay for a few days and enjoy what the area has to offer. It’s Herriot country, and you can find many of the locations used in the famous series. It’s also the area where our greatest landscape artist, J M W Turner, travelled and painted and found the subjects for some of his most famous watercolours. The local Tourist Association publishes a Turner Trail leaflet and has placed seats at many of the places from which you can still see the beautiful views he saw.

This site is managed by The Club on behalf of the Racecourse. You’re pitched within sight of the main stand and with the famous turf before you, and only five minutes walk to the cobbled market town of Thirsk. The site is mid-way between the A1 and the A19, so it’s a natural overnight stopping point, but don’t leave it at that. You’re also in Herriot country, between the lovely, rounded Yorkshire Dales and the more dramatic North York Moors, so make the most of both.

The Certified Location is on a well-tended, pretty, lawned field 200 yards from the farmhouse and cottages. This is a peaceful spot, away from the main road, popular all year round, with wonderful views over the open countryside and adjacent to open fields.

Electric hook ups 10 amp. Flushable chemical emptying point & rubbish bins. Dogs welcome (on leads) – plenty of walks nearby. Computer access – free wireless connection if you take your laptop into your caravan or internet shed with pc provided.

The site reserves the right to charge for extra families/visitors/huge caravans.

No Toilet Block or Shower. Booking is advisable at peak times & weekends and a deposit payable. The site welcomes bookings by email.
