Very conveniently placed not far from both the M25 and M40, but surprisingly green, and screened by good trees. London is only eighteen miles away, and you can reach it by train from Denham Green into Marylebone. If the capital is not for you, visit Windsor for the lovely castle looking almost unreal above the town and valley, and Savill Garden in the Great Park. Also within easy reach is Beaconsfield for the Bekonscot Model Village, Runnymede for its Magna Carta associations, or even Oxford with all the architectural splendours of the colleges. Don’t ignore the Thames – you can enjoy small towns like Marlow and Henley for river trips. For quieter pursuits, visit Cliveden, once the home of the Astors, or West Wycombe Park, both now looked after by the National Trust and for walkers, Denham Country Park, and the Grand Union Canal towpath offers hours of easy exercise.

The site is a green oasis screened from the surrounding countryside by trees, yet within a mile of the M1; ideally situated to use as a base to explore London. Buses to Victoria pass the site, or take the train from Hemel, or the tube from Stanmore. Nearer to home the town offers a playground, bowling green and crazy golf. Within 2 miles there’s a dry ski slope and a comprehensive leisure complex which boasts a waterworld of flumes and rides, an ice rink with a volcano, a cinema complex, ten pin and indoor bowling and two nightclubs. The historic old town centre holds a general market on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as well as a craft market on Monday and antiques on Wednesday.

Access to the site can sometimes be difficult for larger outfits (33 ft or longer) – please contact the site for advice. There is no longer a toilet block on site There is no Late Night Arrivals Area on this site. Latest arrival is 8pm.

Set in the heart of farming country in the Kentish village of Densole on the Downs. This is a quiet and relaxed country site, ideally suited for families wishing to visit the many interesting local attractions including the historic city of Canterbury. For nature lovers there are many walks along the excellent system of footpaths in the area. Folkestone and Dover are on the doorstep and for members wishing to make a one-night stop en route to or from the continent there is a dedicated short stay area.

If you are catching a ferry or train please go back to the Special Request Box on the Caravan Club site booking facility and enter your departure time from Dover, Calais or Dunkirk. If NO ferry pitch is available please do not select Standard With Awning, please ring the site. All ferry and train bookings must contact the site to make payment within 24 hours of booking. Only return ferry or train traffic can be pitched after 8pm, please find pitching instructions in the glass cabinet on the left of the reception door. This site does not have a Late Night Arrivals area. Outfits cannot remain hitched up as there is not enough room to facilitate this.

The site gently slopes towards the open perimeter grounds of Leeds Castle. Surrounded by fields, one of which is a horse paddock and slightly set back from the main road, this site offers an ideal peaceful stop off point en route to the ferry ports. In addition, this Site is centrally located to explore the beautiful countryside of Kent – the Garden of England – and its various tourist attractions: Leeds Castle, the historic town of Maidstone and the North Kent coastline seaside towns of Whitstable & Margate.

Within a few miles of the A1, this small and pretty site with its many trees and shrubs is a perfect place to relax and unwind. Walk out of the site one way to the beautiful and historic village of Ashwell to discover the 14thC church and 15thC cottages, good local pubs and village shops. The local country lanes are perfect for cycling. In the other direction, follow the network of footpaths which punctuate the lovely, gently undulating countryside, which is also perfect for cycling. A short drive away is the university city of Cambridge and the first garden city of Letchworth. You could also visit the historic town of Baldock and market town of Hitchin. Further afield, the charming town of Saffron Walden is well worth exploring.

There are only a small number of touring pitches on this mainly storage and base pitch site, and they are marvellous for the plane spotter, as they’re alongside the Gatwick runway! The touring pitches are pleasantly placed and as the site is not far from the A23 it can be used as a base for exploring this part of West Sussex, or for taking a trip to London, only half an hour by rail from Gatwick. Travelling south you can readily reach Brighton for the sea and nearby Crawley offers a comprehensive shopping centre.

Alderstead Heath has a picturesque setting and is ideal for a relaxing break. Surrounded by rolling wooded countryside and several golf courses, all pitches are level. Situated on the Pilgrims Way, there are many walks across the North Downs to enjoy. Its proximity to London makes this an obvious and delightful base to explore the capital (20 minutes from Redhill). It’s also an ideal base for exploring much of Sussex, Kent and Surrey. Day trips to choose from include family theme parks, National Trust properties such as Chartwell, gardens and several racecourses – all within easy driving distance. Denbies Wine Estate at Dorking is both informative and fun for all the family.

A CARAVAN CLUB GOLDEN JUBILEE SITE. It feels positively rural when you reach this verdant, gently sloping, secure site with its mature tree screening and spacious grounds. Good railway connections (35 mins) into Central London’s attractions are within walking distance of the site. As an alternative to the busy city centre, nearby Greenwich offers its own blend of fascinating attractions. River cruises operate to the Thames Barrier and between St Paul’s, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and Greenwich, Hampton Court & Kew. Open all year, this is a busy site, popular with European visitors during the summer months. However, there are good reasons to visit Abbey Wood throughout the year: the Christmas lights, January sales shopping, London Marathon, Excel Centre and the Chelsea Flower Show.

If you arrive after 8pm you will have to stay in the Late Night Arrivals Area overnight. The Late Night Arrivals Area does have electric hook up and toilet facilities. Please note: Wireless internet access is now available on site. Cards may be purchased from the site office.

A quiet site in pretty surroundings. Spring brings a fantastic display of bluebells followed by foxgloves, and you’ll see a wide variety of birds and even the occasional deer. There is a choice of walks from the site to Gittisham, from Beer to Branscombe along the coastal path or from Ottery St Mary along the river. Sidmouth is a restful resort with a long pebble beach, a Donkey Sanctuary and an International Folklore Festival in August. Nearby Honiton is an attractive Georgian town with antique and speciality shops including lacemaking and pottery as well as a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Nearer to home, the local pub is a 200 yard walk.

This popular site is divided into areas by banking and hedgerows. A rear gate gives access to gorse-covered sand dunes, through which a ten-minute walk leads to a cliff path down to the beach facing St Ives Bay. For the less mobile, a beach-side car park is only a one mile drive away. The area is peppered with typical little Cornish fishing villages such as Coverack, Cadgwith, Mullion, Porthleven and Mousehole. This area enjoys the best of both worlds: it is delightfully attractive and recommended for quiet exploration, whilst there are plenty of attractions for family days out. During the school summer break, the site hums with exuberant children.

Bathing off the coast can be dangerous. Particular note should be taken of any local warning notices.
